Not only is it small and portable but there's a crap load of space to hold files as well. Floppies have gone the way of the dodo bird and CD can be too much of a pain to carry and burn and re-burn all the time hence flash memory is a very convenient way to carry stuff around especially if you are at all like me working on a multitude of computers each day.<br /><br />One thing to be aware of with flash... don't' put all your eggs in one basket... have your current versions of your files somewhere else on a hard drive, on CD anywhere else in addition to your flash.<br /><br />Today I almost lost an entire semester's worth of homework, notes and projects along with my precious portfolio project. I now have what I've done on a CD and will also be putting it on both my desktop hard drive and my external drive as well. You see, my computer decided to no longer recognize some of the files on my flash drive and I thought I'd lost everything but after it was unplugged and plugged in once more everything showed back up.
